Social Activist Handbooks
Here are two highly recommended books on social action, both from the practical point of view. The first is from the Midwest Academy, a Chicago-based social change activist school that since the 1970s has been training organizers for communities, unions, women’s groups and other social movements.
Organizing for Social Change: Midwest Academy : Manual for Activists
by Kim Bobo, Jackie Kendall and Steve Max.
The Activist’s Handbook: A Primer Updated Edition with a New Preface

Committed Relationships
Marriage from the Heart: Eight Commitments of a Spiritually Fulfilling Life Together
by Lois Kellerman
Simply the best book on committed relationships that I’ve found. Unlike too many books that focus on what’s wrong with a relationship, Kellerman focuses on how to make a relationship strong by building on strengths.
Every couple — whether married or not — can use this book and methodology to build a more fulfilling relationship in which both can grow and change and become more themselves.
This book makes an excellent wedding or anniversary gift for a couple whose relationship is already good — and who may want to “go deeper.”

Steven Halpern
I find the music of Steven Halpern to be excellent mood music.В His Music for Accelerated Learning is great for enhancing concentration during study time. Sleep Soundly
really works well for me, especially if I’m traveling and need some help relaxing for sleep.

Building Online Community
Resources for the design and implementation of online communities - these books are more concerned with the conceptual design and on-going maintenance than the specifics of programming the community. Topics like basic design, etiquette, publicity are covered by most of the books.

Interfaith Couples Face the Holidays
Helpful resources towards better understanding of the Christian and
Jewish holidays, a book about Kwanzaa, another about how one atheist
feels about Christmas (I largely disagree with him), and a good resource on dynamics of interfaith marriages:

Multiple Intelligences
Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences has helped many to rethink how to educate both children and adults.
